Alba Cabral, PhD is an Executive Coach with a degree in psychology. She has over 20 years of experience providing assessment, psychotherapy, and consulting services. Alba is passionate about helping Latinas identify and overcome the internal barriers that hinder their professional and personal advancement. She guides them to find their voice, to be assertive, and share their point of view with confidence. In her coaching work, Alba balances academic research concerning social norms, expectations, and psychological concepts with practical strategies for operating effectively within the workplace. She teaches her clients different approaches to strengthen their emotional intelligence, to effectively navigate obstacles/biases/stereotypes, and to develop leadership skills.

In addition to her private consulting practice, Alba works as a psychologist at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City as a member of the Behavior Health Integration Program (BHIP) and the HealthySteps Program. Currently, she is completing a Women in Leadership Certificate from Cornell University. Alba completed her pre-doctoral internship at Mt. Sinai-St. Luke’s Hospital where she later became part of the faculty. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from The Graduate Center of The City University of New York and received her B.A. and B.F.A. from Cornell University. Alba has worked in various professional settings, including outpatient hospital clinics and community agencies. She was an assistant professor at the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in the Bronx, NY.

Alba was born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and moved to the United States in her late teenage years to attend The Armand Hammer United World College (AHUWC), an international boarding school invested in teaching students the value of tolerance, international understanding and peace. Her immigration history has given her a unique vantage point in working with individuals and families of multicultural backgrounds. Alba feels proud and blessed to come from a family that values education as a means to achieve independence and empowerment. Alba is bilingual in Spanish and English, and has a conversational proficiency level in French.
